  ISSUE 133: Michelangelo Pistoletto Band
  May 29 - June 12

1 of 3 Issues Curated by Ethan Swan

Michelangelo Pistoletto Band is a collaboration between the artists Bona Park (b. 1977) and Eunji Cho (b. 1973). Based in Seoul, South Korea, the duo uses sound, video, and performance to reflect on the changing landscape of Korean cities. For their music video "Heart of Korea," the band investigated what they describe as the "melancholy landscapes" of Incheon. The third largest city in South Korea, Incheon has recently undergone a rebranding as a English-speaking, commercial hub. "Heart of Korea" examines the tension between old and new by filming the band in an old park, which has since been demolished, while the accompanying song lists street names from the city's new developments, such as "Tomorrow City" and "Smart Valley."
